Currently Clevedon CARES is opposing a Manukau City Council proposed change to the District Plan which would enable the re-zoning of parts of the beautiful Clevedon valley from Rural 1 to a new “Wairoa River Maritime Village” Zone.

This so-called “Maritime Village” is in fact a high density urban residential-only subdivision, with no attributes of a typical village.

It is our aim to get this Plan Change withdrawn as we believe it is ill-conceived, inappropriate development for this rural area, and would change the very nature of Clevedon irretrievably.

We are a group of concerned local residents who need your support to protect Clevedon Village’s unique character and environment. We are NOT anti-development per se but believe that it should be appropriate in style, scale and form to our unique rural area and Clevedon Village and be properly planned with adequate infrastructure and Community consultation.

The Plan Change – Wairoa River Maritime Village – is NOT inevitable. Together we still have the power to stop it.
